TAP Cheers for REAL Galatone | The "Special Squad" Project Kicks off

25 June 2018

TAP Start is supporting the REAL Galatone Sports Association for their initiative to promote sport as a solution to social cohesion for disabled and disadvantaged young people. TAP donated equipment and a minibus, thanks to which 20 boys aged between 10 and 14 will be able to reach the football pitch and train.

The launch event took place on 18 June and all the young athletes and their families participated. The social services and two schools of Galatone also contributed to supporting the football team, which is now ready to train and play in Salento.

The association’s General Secretary Giuseppe Stapane commented: “We have worked in social programmes for years, but we were struggling to ensure transport for our athletes. Finally, we can provide this important service, helping to develop athletic and social skills”, he pointed out.

“We are glad to support the Special Squad; such a useful and significant project for the local community,  TAP Country Manager for Italy Michele Elia said.

The “Special Squad” is one of the 11 projects financed by TAP Start in its second edition. The initiative was launched in 2017 and aims to provide a total of €400,000 to non-profit organisations within the province of Lecce.
