This clears the way for the drafting of the National Sectorial Plan for the TAP Project. The drafting of this document will be led by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy. Upon obtaining this status, the 500 meter wide corridor of the TAP project is declared a “national area”.

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and the Greek government today formally initiated the process to conclude the Host Government Agreement that will govern the group’s investment. At 1.5 billion Euros, this is expected to be the single largest current Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Greece.

TAP plans to start offshore surveys in the Adriatic Sea this winter. The goal is to collect additional data and samples to identify optimal offshore routing.

TAP has agreed with the Italian Ministry of Environment to extend the suspension of its Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) application in Italy for an additional nine months - until September 2013.

As part of its stakeholder engagement activities, TAP is disclosing the contents of the ESIA report to the local communities in Albania. Residents of areas potentially affected by the pipeline are invited to provide their views and comments, which will be incorporated in the project development.

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) has today strengthened its team in Italy with the appointment of Giampaolo Russo, who takes position as TAP Italy’s Country Manager, effective 15 October 2012. Paul Pasteris, will continue to work for TAP and to develop the project in Italy.
