TAP was represented by its Community Liaison Officer for Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Spyros Nakos, who received the award from the President of the Evros Chamber of Commerce, Christodoulos Topsidis. On behalf of the Chamber’s Board, whose unanimous decision it was to present TAP with this award, Mr. Topsidis praised the project for supporting the local economy and community, thus fostering further development and growth.
TAP’s contribution is present in the employment boost –as more than 80% of the 3,500+ people that have worked on the project to date, are recruited from local communities– as well as the procurement of goods and services from local businesses, such as hotels, restaurants and catering companies, but also businesses providing various services, such as transportation, lifting machinery, building materials, etc. In addition, thanks to their collaboration with the pipeline project, many businesses in the area have upgraded their facilities and/or expertise.
Upon receiving the award, TAP’s representative relayed the thanks of the entire team, as well as the sense of pride and accomplishment shared by all of its members for this privilege, for the fact that its multi-faceted contribution to local communities is being recognised, and for the acknowledgement of their own efforts.
