Through the MENA programme, 15 restaurant owners and managers in the Lecce area received three-month high-level training in restaurant management, cooking techniques and the transformation of food products. Implemented between January and April 2017, the project, sponsored and organised by TAP, brought together top-rated chefs and local restaurant owners and managers, ultimately supporting the local economy and tourism.
TAPStart supports the ideas of local communities in the Lecce province. The programme run by TAP, offers several small grants to non-profit organisations implementing projects in the areas of sports, culture, environment and social issues. TAP has invested a total of €200,000 in 2016 for seven local projects, which are now all under implementation and carried out by Melendugno local associations. €400,000 has been made available in 2017 for the TAPStart second edition, enlarging the geographical base for applications to the whole Lecce province.
Through a range of scientific, operational and awareness activities, TAP’s marine litter programme aims to reduce marine litter on an approximately 30 km stretch of the Adriatic coast (municipalities of Vernole, Lecce and Melendugno). The project is developed with CoNISMa (the National Interuniversity Consortium for Marine Sciences) via its Research Unit in the Lecce area (part of the University of Salento). The preliminary study phase, which TAP supported with a € 50.000 investment, was conducted between February and July 2017. The multi-year programme, with an envisaged investment amounting to more than € 800.000, is currently under development.
