TAP's mission and vision
Trans Adriatic Pipeline's mission and vision reflect this strategic infrastructure's role as a key part of the Southern Gas Corridor and its solid contribution to Europe’s energy security and a sustainable energy future.
TAP provides a cost-effective, safe and sustainable energy transportation route, while supporting local communities and benefitting the wider region. We strive to enhance energy security and diversification, and to support Europe’s transition to a low carbon future.
Our mission
As a European TSO and part of the Southern Gas Corridor, we contribute to the sustainability of energy supply and diversification of energy routes, actively supporting the transition in the European energy markets.
We provide high-value commercial products and services and we continue to strive to create additional value for our stakeholders by leveraging on our infrastructure.
We manage our assets in a safe and efficient manner, with full respect for society, the environment, and the neighbouring communities.
We actively pursue a culture where we trust, respect and support each other, as we continue to develop an agile and lean organisation, based on the pillars of diversity and inclusion, supporting the health and well-being of our employees.
Our vision
We will contribute to a sustainable energy future by offering innovative and competitive services and solutions and we will pursue opportunities to transport carbon neutral energy sources, reducing the emissions, in line with European Union energy transition objectives.
Putting safety first
Safety is at the heart of everything we do. We have a health and safety duty of care to our host communities, employees and workforce, as well as our stakeholders. TAP is committed to ensuring this is upheld throughout the pipeline’s lifetime.
Boosting economic growth
TAP promotes economic development and job creation along the pipeline route; it is also a major source of foreign direct investment.
As a result, Greece, Albania and Italy benefit from a safe, long-term, sustainable asset and enjoy enhanced status on the European energy map. In addition, their economic development will continue being stimulated by the introduction of new energy supplies and more competitive energy markets.
Enabling sustainability
By improving the quantity of natural gas flows into Europe, TAP contributes to the continent's environmental future.
As the cleanest fossil fuel, natural gas will play an increasingly important role in meeting the EU’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, achieving its environmental targets, and transitioning to more renewable forms of energy.
Moreover, Europe’s gas infrastructure is adaptable to Europe’s future energy needs.
Anticipating future needs
TAP's flexible design accommodates increased gas transportation capacity. The addition of two extra compressor stations can double throughput to 20 bcma, as additional energy supplies come on stream from further afield.
Along its route, TAP can facilitate connections to a number of existing and proposed pipelines, ensuring that the Southern Gas Corridor opens up new energy markets. This will enable the delivery of gas to destinations throughout South Eastern, Central and Western Europe for decades to come.
