Respect for human rights

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline promotes and advocates best practice for human rights and the safety and security of our stakeholders.

We take the safety and security of our stakeholders very seriously. This includes individuals, communities, staff, contractors.

TAP was one of the first pipeline projects to follow the United Nations Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights, and we adhere to international standards for managing project risk.

TAP also follows the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR), designed to guide companies in maintaining the safety and security of their operations within an operating framework that encourages respect for human rights.

While recognising that governments have the primary responsibility for protecting human rights, TAP advocates and promotes respect for human rights through the implementation of tools such as the VPSHR. These provide guidance on conducting appropriate risk assessments.

TAP collaborates with International Alert for VPSHR implementation at a corporate level and in our three host countries.
