ESIA Albania - Amendment (in Albanian)

The route adjustment has been made to avoid a mining concession area near Ura Vajgurore, Berat (L1577) and to ensure the project bypass the licensed quarry mining land. The reroute enables the pipeline to be built at a minimum distance of 230 m from the concession area boundary, and aims to minimise environmental impact.

The new access road (444_New, between KP 71.8 and KP 78) is located in the central eastern section of the pipeline, in the Ostrovicë Mountains. The 6.4-kilometre road is designed as a single lane service road, limiting to the minimum any potential environmental impact.

Based on the nature of the findings, the baseline features, the type of impacts expected and the specific preventive / mitigation measures and management plans relevant for the new footprint are of similar nature to those previously presented in the TAP ESIA for Albania (2013).

The ESIA Amendment number 1 also considered two new access roads (namely 489_A and 498_1_A) and rerouting at the mining concession area near the Ustie village (L1473), along the national road Polican - Corovoda. However, since preparation and submission of the ESIA Amendment in May 2015, it has been determined that these three modifications to the project are no longer required due to changes in project design.
