Cleaning the Osumi River
‘We clean the Albania we love’ was a campaign launched by the Albanian Ministry of Tourism and Environment in December 2017. Part of the campaign involved clearing debris from the Osumi River in Berat and deepening the river bed.
€18,000 investment
Supporting the government initiative, TAP provided ten excavators and heavy trucks to clear the riverbed between Gorica and the New Bridge. The main road connecting Ura Vajgurore with Berat was also cleared. Volunteers, school students, and the armed forces planted trees along the roadside.
Berat Prefecture, Berat and Ura Vajgurore municipalities and a number of private companies also participated in these activities.
Welcoming TAP’s participation, the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Blendi Klosi said, “This help is necessary for the residents of Berat; it enables a healthy environment which promotes tourism and prevents future floods.”
