Equipment to Fight Wildfires

TAP delivered 600 backpack fire extinguishers and 100 fire-retardant uniforms to the Albanian authorities. This equipment enables firefighters to be more efficient when fighting wildfires, as well as reduce the risks of heat exposure. Emergency services across Albania received this equipment in August and September 2017.

€186,000 investment

During the summer of 2017, there were many wildfires across Europe. Albania was one of the worst affected countries, with wildfires reported along the pipeline route, in the Skrapar, Korca and Berat regions.

TAP received an official request to provide support from the Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Ministry of Interior Affairs. TAP responded to the Albanian authorities' call by making available fire extinguishers and uniforms within a short period of time.

The following items were delivered:

  • 100 personal protective uniforms (including helmet, gloves, boots, balaclava, trousers, jackets)
  • 600 backpack fire extinguishers.

Taking into consideration the high risk of fires during the summer season, in a second stage, TAP, in coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Industry, and the Ministry of Interior, will provide fire engines and ambulances which can access Albania’s mountainous areas.
