Rehabilitation of the Thanas Ikonomi School in Grecalli, Fier
The “Thanas Ikonomi” school is located in the Grecalli village, the Municipality of Fier. Built in 1975, the school has been gradually deteriorating to the point that some of the students stopped attending it due to safety concerns. TAP decided to rehabilitate all interior and exterior school facilities. More than 210 students now study in much better conditions.
€340,000 investment
Works included wall plastering and tile laying; replacement of windows and doors; installing electrical and internet lines; bathroom repairs; etc. New furniture has also been purchased.
Special importance was also paid to energy efficiency and temperature control. This was achieved by insulating the two-storey building. In addition, emergency stairs and a fire safety system were installed, making this one of the first schools in the country to benefit from increased safety standards.
The works began in April 2017, and lasted four months. The project created approximately 70 jobs. A ceremony to inaugurate the renovated school took place in October 2017.
Albanian company Agbes shpk managed the renovation works, under the supervision of TAP's Construction Project Managing Company, Abkons.
