TAP achieves Gold Standard Reporting under UNEP’s OGMP 2.0 initiative
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) has achieved Gold Standard Reporting under the Oil & Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), the United Nations Environment Programme’s flagship framework for methane emissions reporting and mitigation.
The recognition marks an important milestone in TAP’s efforts to improve the quality, transparency and robustness of its methane emissions reporting, demonstrating the high quality of methane management across its operations.
TAP’s participation in OGMP 2.0 supports its wider efforts to reduce methane emissions and advance the decarbonisation of its operations. OGMP 2.0 provides a comprehensive, measurement-based reporting framework designed to strengthen the accuracy and transparency of methane emissions data across the oil and gas industry. Gold Standard Reporting reflects the company’s performance in implementing OGMP2.0 requirements, including setting a methane performance target and progressing toward Level 5 reporting, the highest level of reporting combining a Level 4 inventory with site-level measurements and reconciliation to produce the company’s best estimate of methane emissions.
The company joined OGMP 2.0 in 2023, reinforcing its commitment to methane emissions reduction. In 2025, TAP maintained its Gold Standard Pathway Certificate, before achieving Gold Standard Reporting in 2026, marking the latest step in its progress under the framework.
Luca Schieppati, TAP Managing Director, said: “Reaching Gold Standard Reporting reflects TAP’s continuous efforts to improve how we measure, understand and manage methane emissions across our operations. Our work does not stop here. As we look to mid and longer term horizon, our focus will remain on ensuring that TAP remains resilient, reliable and ready to adapt to a changing energy landscape. Robust measurement and transparent reporting will be an important part of that approach.”
