TAP participated in the Mediterranean Coast Guard Functions Forum in Tirana
Engaging with key stakeholders on maritime challenges in the Mediterranean
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) participated in the Mediterranean Coast Guard Functions Forum (MCGFF), held in Tirana from October 29 to 31.
Organised by the Albanian Coast Guard and co-funded by the European Commission, the forum focused on "New Challenges in the Mediterranean Sea: Blue Economy, Ecological Transition, and Coast Guard Functions."
TAP was represented by Malfor Nuri, Country Representative and O&M Manager for Albania and Eligio Lo Cascio, Operations & Maintenance Manager for Italy. E. Lo Cascio delivered a presentation titled "TAP Offshore Pipeline Monitoring Activities." This presentation highlighted TAP's commitment to maritime safety and infrastructure protection, detailing the offshore infrastructure, existing regulations for infrastructure protection in Italy and Albania, and TAP’s inspection and monitoring activities aimed at safeguarding the offshore pipeline and associated fiber optic cable.
Participants shared best practices and insights on critical issues affecting maritime operations. The collaboration was aimed at strengthening the collective response to emerging challenges and promoting sustainable practices in the Mediterranean region.
The forum gathered high-caliber participants, including Rear Admiral Agastra, the Commander of the Albanian Coast Guard; Pirro Vengu, the Minister of Defence, Belinda Balluku , the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy and Deputy Prime Minister and Christos Economou, the Deputy Director in DG MARE at the European Commission. The discussions centered around enhancing cooperation among coast guard agencies, focusing on maritime safety, security, and environmental protection, while addressing shared challenges among Mediterranean nations.
