Kavala, Greece. The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP AG) was the main sponsor of the ethnic music, dance and culture Festival “Cosmopolis, The Reunion”, held at the old town of Kavala (Cape Panagia) between the 21st and the 24th of July. “Cosmopolis” was organised by the Municipality of Kavala and the city’s public benefit organisation “Dimofelia”, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
During the Festival, hundreds of visitors enjoyed CosmoConcerts, CosmoDances, CosmoTastes, CosmoCinema and the street bazaar. Especially for children the Festival organised CosmoKids events, this year with the participation of TAP. The Trans Adriatic Pipeline sponsors a road safety seminars programme, organised and implemented at Northern Greece Prefectures by the Hellenic Institute of Transport, which is part of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). At Cosmopolis, on July 23rd, TAP in cooperation with CERTH presented at the 7th Primary School of Kavala the “Fos Fanari” (Bright Traffic-light) interactive theatrical game for kids, on traffic education and road safety.
The Kavala "Cosmopolis" Festival returned this year after a 7-year break to become yet again a focal point in the city’s cultural life. From the year 2000, when it was organised for the first time, “Cosmopolis” has aimed at bringing together cultures and cultivating ties between people by featuring dance troupes, musicians, traditional dishes and folk art from all over the world, while also honouring and highlighting a different part of Greece. This year, delegates from six countries participated (Chile, Italy, Russia, Serbia, Taiwan, Turkey) and Tripoli was the featured Greek area.
