TAP has selected Honeywell SRL of Italy for the engineering, procurement and installation of its SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) telecommunications and security systems.

Six months after inaugurating the construction of the TAP in an official ceremony held in Thessaloniki, on Friday 25 November, the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras visited the project’s works currently under way in Alexandroupoli. The Prime Minister was welcomed on site by Ian Bradshaw, TAP Managing Director, Rikard Scoufias, Country Manager for Greece, and Ulrike Andres, Commercial & External Affairs Director.

TAP launched an internship programme for young graduate students interested in gaining experience from one of the most important energy projects in Europe. The four-month internships will provide hands-on exposure to the project’s key departments, as well as the opportunity to work with international experts and start building a career network.

Greece. Implementing its commitment to protecting Greek tradition and cultural heritage, TAP has announced that its EPC contractors are currently employing more than 40 local archaeologists and archaeological workers in their construction sites, while 70 more are about to be employed in the near future.

TAP finalised the reconstruction of a double lane bridge in the city of Çorovoda, which will improve transport infrastructure as well as access to the main hospital in the city. It will also facilitate access to the Osumi Canyon and other touristic sights in this part of Albania. The inauguration ceremony culminated with the unveiling of a recognition plaque.

The occasion was marked by an inauguration ceremony near the town of Fier, attended by the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, Minister of Energy and Industry, Damian Gjiknuri, and TAP Managing Director, Ian Bradshaw. As one of the largest foreign investments in the country, TAP will have a positive impact on the country’s energy sector and will help encourage other foreign investments, Prime Minister Rama and Energy Minister Gjiknuri emphasised.
TAP hires Ulrike Andres, former CEO of Transalpine Pipeline as Commercial & External Affairs Director

Ulrike has held a number of management roles at a senior level in the oil and gas industry and joins TAP from the Transalpine Pipeline Group – Europe’s largest pipeline company transporting crude oil from Trieste to eight central European refineries – where she was President and Chief Executive Officer for more than five years.

TAP welcomes the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Ionian Adriatic Pipeline (IAP) by Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and Socar. "TAP remains committed to facilitating connections to key gas infrastructure in the region, including the Ionian Adriatic Pipeline and the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB),” said TAP Managing Director Ian Bradshaw.

TAP has selected Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd. (HFCL) for the supply and delivery of approximately 1,550 kilometres fibre optic cable. This will facilitate bi-directional communication feed from the pipeline and associated assets, such as compressor and block valve stations, to the supervisory control centre.

The Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy has announced that it has granted TAP its Installation Permit for Greece. Together with the Installation Act, secured in January 2016, the Installation Permit allows the pipeline construction activities in Greece to start in line with the project schedule.

Greece. The first deliveries of steel line pipes and bends, to be used in the construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) AG section traversing Greece, have started arriving at the ports of Thessaloniki and Kavala.

TAP has selected a joint venture comprising Renco S.p.A (Italy) and Terna S.A. (Greece) for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) of the project’s compressor stations. In Greece, the award covers the provision of EPC and commissioning of one compressor station at Kipoi. In Albania, the award covers the provision of EPC and commissioning of one compressor station at Fier and one metering station at Billisht.

The national regulatory authorities of Albania (ERE), Greece (RAE) and Italy (AEEGSI) certified Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) AG on the basis of the independent transmission operator (ITO) model, part of the European Union's Third Energy Package.

TAP announced the arrival of the first steel line pipes and machinery for the construction of the Albanian section of the pipeline. The occasion was marked by a ceremony in the Main Marshalling Yard of TAP, in the vicinity of Durrës. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Energy and Industry Damian Gjiknuri, representatives of local authorities, TAP contractors, Albanian companies and other stakeholders.

TAP has awarded a contract to Salzgitter Mannesmann International GmbH for the supply of approximately 110km 36-inch offshore line pipes to be used in the 105 km section of the project across the Adriatic Sea, between the coastlines of Albania and southern Italy. This contract award makes up more than 71,000 tonnes of offshore line pipe.

TAP has awarded to Saipem SpA the contract for Engineering, Pro-curement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) for the offshore section of the project. TAP’s 36-inch offshore pipeline across the Adriatic Sea – between the coastlines of Albania and southern Italy – will be approximately 105 km in length, down to approximately 820 meters below sea level at the deepest.

TAP has awarded the contracts for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of approximately 760km of cross-country onshore pipeline - 48 inches (1.2m) in diameter - in Greece and Albania. TAP’s construction is split into five lots (or sections) – three lots in Greece and two lots in Albania.

TAP today received confirmation that the European Commission granted state aid clearance for the Host Government Agreement concluded between the Hellenic Republic and TAP. The decision confirms that the HGA is compliant with European Union internal market rules and solidifies the legal framework by which the TAP project is realised and will be operated on Greek territory.
