TAP Funds 33 Playgrounds in Greece | Continuing its WORKS OF INSPIRATION Project
The TAP and its contractor embark on the construction or reconstruction of a series of playgrounds in Northern Greece, starting off with 33 playgrounds in the Municipalities of Komotini (Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace), and Chalkidona (Region of Central Macedonia). The first batch of playgrounds are expected to be delivered by the end of the summer to the two Municipalities, whose combined population exceeds 100,000 residents.
Komotini and Chalkidona, Greece. The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) AG and its contractor embark on the construction or reconstruction of a series of playgrounds in Northern Greece, starting off with 33 playgrounds in the Municipalities of Komotini (Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace), and Chalkidona (Region of Central Macedonia).
The initiative is part of TAP’s wider project WORKS OF INSPIRATION | Development of Local Infrastructure, which in turn is part of the extensive Social and Environmental Investments (SEI) programme that is implemented in the communities crossed by the pipeline, addressing local requests.
The first phase of this playgrounds project will take place in the Komotini areas of Messochori, Kosmio and Roditis, with Thrylorio, Fylakas and Megalo Doukato following suit. Works have already started in the first three of these municipal units, after the meeting between the Mayor of Komotini, Giorgos Petridis, and TAP’s representatives – Community Liaison Officer for Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, Spyros Nakos, and Corporate Social Responsibility Advisor, Zoe Bavavea.
Mayor Petridis also visited the worksite in Messochori, expressing content for the commencement of activities, as well as the high level of professionalism demonstrated by the crews at the worksite. "I’m certain that the final result will justify our choice," he noted, "and enable our children to play and exercise in a safe and modern environment."
Next in line is the Municipality of Chalkidona, where in the upcoming weeks works will begin in four locations, out of the 27 playgrounds in total to be renovated in the area, the first being the one in the Mikro Monastiri community.
The first batch of playgrounds are expected to be delivered by the end of the summer to the two Municipalities, whose combined population exceeds 100,000 residents.
And more is to come, as TAP continues to study and assess relevant requests from municipalities and communities for the construction or renovation of playgrounds in their jurisdiction; always with the aim to provide children with safe and protected spaces.
