TAP Donates Equipment to the Association of the Blind of Eastern Macedonia
Implemented in collaboration with the Social Solidarity Network, the donation consists of ten Perkins Braille typewriters, two multi-functional devices, a computer and an air conditioner.
On 22 November 2017, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) delivered its donation of specialised equipment to the Regional Association of the Blind of Eastern Macedonia, thus responding to a relevant request submitted by the Association.
The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the Social Solidarity Network and consists of ten Perkins Braille typewriters, two multi-functional devices, a desktop computer and an air conditioner.
TAP’s Community Liaison Officer for Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, Spyros Nakos presented the equipment to the Regional Association's President, Smaragdos Kremydas.
Mr. Kremydas thanked TAP and the Network for the donation, stressing that it allows the Association to upgrade the level of services provided to its members, who attend Braille courses (reading and writing) within its premises.
"We have a long-standing cooperation with TAP and Mr. Nakos has become a friend. We needed this equipment, it allows us to continue our work with dignity," he also said.
On his part, the representative of the pipeline in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Spyros Nakos, expressed his pleasure for the completion of yet another initiative that is part of TAP’s wider social and environmental investments programme, implemented by the project in Northern Greece.
"We listen to the needs of the areas traversed by the pipeline and we try to meet them – always in collaboration with local communities," he added before taking his first lesson in Braille.
