TAP Donates Vehicles to the Municipality of Tirana to Assist People Affected by Earthquake
The vehicles will be used to come to the aid of residents in remote mountainous areas of this municipality.
Tirana, Albania. The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) has donated a fleet of five off-road vehicles to the Municipality of Tirana. These vehicles will be used to come to the aid of residents in remote mountainous areas of this municipality. Erion Veliaj, the Mayor of Tirana, and Malfor Nuri, TAP Country Manager for Albania, attended the handover event.
Erion Veliaj, the Mayor of Tirana, expressed his appreciation for TAP’s assistance: “I am very grateful to our friends at TAP. I believe that the wellbeing and success of a company are not only measured through its economic contribution, but also by its social contribution. The vehicles donated by TAP will allow us to serve residents in the remote villages of Shën-Gjergj, Zall-Bastar, or Zall-Dajt, whereas before, we needed to borrow vehicles from other institutions or companies to provide assistance in these remote locations.”
Malfor Nuri, TAP Country Manager for Albania, said: “TAP is established on the principles of being a good neighbour and working closely with the communities living along its route. Since the earthquake we have been in close communication with the mayor and the Municipality of Tirana and we’re pleased to see this donation come to fruition. As our project crosses the Marta Pass at 2,100m, we understand very well and can relate to the challenge of providing urgent assistance to people in remote areas. In case of an emergency every minute counts, so these vehicles will support safer and more prompt interventions.”
TAP has helped the communities affected by earthquakes on several occasions. In cooperation with the Municipality of Vora and the Municipality of Durrës TAP donated accommodation units to the people most affected by the November 2019 earthquake. Also, together with the Government of Albania and the Municipality of Korça, TAP is assisting the Village of Flloq with the reconstruction of homes damaged by the June 2019 earthquake.
