ΤΑΡ Provides 3 Specialised Vehicles for Persons with Disabilities in Greece

TAP completed another initiative, as part of its Social and Environmental Investments (SEI) programme in northern Greece, regarding the procurement and delivery of three specialised vehicles to associations supporting Persons with Disabilities.

The initiative was concluded in collaboration with the Network for Social Solidarity (NSS). TAPcontribution amounts to €270,000, which is added to the €600,000 already provided in support of various NGOs and social initiatives in the country.

The three mini-buses, fully equipped for the safe transport of Persons with Disabilities, were delivered to:

  • "Agios Savvas," a Drama-based organisation caring for people with chronic disease
  • "Orizontas," a municipal Centre in Edessa for the creative development of children with disabilities, and
  • "Elpida," an association in Oraiokastro, supporting persons with autism and mental disabilities.

These facilities educate, train or creatively occupy more than 500 people – children and adults. And about 130 of them are in need of daily, safe transport, in suitably equipped vehicles, as the associations often cover geographically extensive areas

Representatives from all three organisations thanked TAP and NSS for their interest towards vulnerable social groups, for their solidarity to Persons with Disabilities, and for their support to social inclusion.

Vassiliki Sotiropoulou, Manager of TAP’s SEI programme in Greece, stressed the team’s duty of care to the local communities close to the TAP pipeline – and especially so the most vulnerable amongst them, such as Persons with Disabilities.

Nikolaos Pentzos, President of the NSS, noted that the initiatives implemented across northern Greece in collaboration with TAP, fulfil the Network’s social mission of offering support to those in need – especially children.
