Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs)

An ESIA analyses the risks and opportunities linked to the TAP project. Considering its environmental, socio-economic and cultural heritage effects,  the ESIA describes how any possible negative impacts will be mitigated or eliminated by the use of world-class technologies. It also describes how TAP will invest in local social and environmental projects.

ESIA Greece - Amendment 5 (In English)

The fifth Amendment to TAP’s ESIA in Greece describes two minor changes on the pipeline route in the areas of Lachanas, Municipality of Lagadas and Ianas (KP46), Municipality of Alexandroupolis. The document assesses these changes’ impact on the natural, physical, cultural heritage and socio-economic environment.

ESIA Greece - Amendment 4 (in English)

The fourth Amendment to TAP’s ESIA in Greece describes two minor changes on the pipeline route in the areas of Ano Grammatiko (Municipality of Edessa) and Pentalofos (Municipality of Oreokastro). The document assesses these changes’ impact on the natural, physical, cultural heritage and socio-economic environment. 

ESIA Greece - Amendment 3 (in English)

The Third Amendment to TAP’s ESIA in Greece describes a few minor changes in the location of selected block valve stations, pipe yards and campsites for the TAP project permanent facilities as well as in the pipeline route. The document assesses these changes’ impact on the natural, physical, cultural heritage and socio-economic environment. 

ESIA Albania - Amendment 3 (in English)

The third Amendment to TAP’s ESIA in Albania describes six changes in the project compared to the 2013 status (ESIA approval and Environmental Permit issue date). All changes are designed to have minimum impact on the environment and the communities along TAP’s route in Albania.  

ESIA Albania - Amendment 2 (in English)

The Second Amendment to TAP’s ESIA in Albania describes two changes in the project compared to the 2013 status (ESIA approval and Environmental Permit issue date). The first change relates to an adjustment of the route in the Potom area, located in the central and eastern part of the pipeline (between KP 78 and KP 86.4). The second change refers to the construction of a new access road (AR 460-3). Both changes are designed to minimise impact on the environment and the community.

ESIA Greece - Amendment 2 (in English)

The Second Amendment to TAP’s ESIA in Greece introduces changes to the location and design of the project compressor station in Kipoi (GCS00). Specifically, the package considers the following changes: a new location for the compressor station, southeast of the approved ESIA location; the pipeline rerouting leading to the new GCS00 location; access roads to the new GCS00 location; the water supply situation to GCS00; as well as the connection of the new GCS00 location to the electricity transmission network.

ESIA Greece - Amendment (in Greek)

The Amendment to TAP’s ESIA in Greece (including an additional volume called “Supplement”) describes a number of changes introduced to the pipeline route and the design of permanent and temporary installations of TAP compared to the project status in June 2013 (ESIA submission date). The changes are largely the result of feedback received from the affected communities during the Stakeholder Engagement process. Additionally, as the project advances, the TAP team has made several improvements to the pipeline route, aiming both to optimise the route itself as well as to keep environmental impact to a minimum.

ESIA Italy - Additional Documents (in English)

On 17th April 2014, TAP submitted several documents integrating the ESIA dossier to the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism and to all relevant and competent authorities. The documentation that TAP submitted was requested by the Ministry of Environment and includes a main document and 17 attachments amounting to 1,200 pages, 50 tables and one video. The documentation also includes TAP’s answers to public observations and to the negative opinion expressed by the Regional EIA Committee on the ESIA.

ESIA Italy - Additional documents (in Italian)

On 17 April 2014, well ahead of schedule, TAP submitted additional documents for integration into the ESIA application to the Ministry of Environment and of Cultural Heritage in Italy and to all the relevant authorities involved in the authorisation procedure.
